- Part 2: How to Draw Diego
- Part 3: How to Draw Manny
- Part 4: How to Draw Scrat
This tutorial will show you how to draw Diego from the Ice Age films.
Diego is one of the main characters of the series. He is a smilodon (sabre-toothed tiger) with a sarcastic and jaded personality. Originally he was one of the antagonists in the beginning of the first Ice Age film but by the end he and the rest of the crew were great friends.
Most artists will be able to complete this tutorial with relative ease. Take your time and have fun. Let’s begin!
Draw the guidelines for Diego’s head. The upper part of his head is just a half circle. The part that comprises the snout and chin will jut from the middle of his head and extend down
Draw the guidelines for his body. His body is shaped like a bowling pin laying on it’s side. His torso is much large at his front legs. His body is much smaller at his waist and hips.
We have our guidelines down and now we are ready to start drawing the final lines of our soon to be masterpiece. Lightly erase the guidelines so they are barely visible.
Follow the guidelines to draw the top of his head. The ear closest to us is most visible while the one on the other side of his head can be drawn as just a bump.
Draw the fur on his cheeks. These can be drawn with pointed ends.
Draw his eyes and nose. Diego is a character with an abrasive demeanor. Drawing him with a furrowed brow will help to show that in your picture.
When drawing his nose make the bottom edge of it with thicker lines to show that is is rising off of his face
Notice the mouth is halfway between his nose and chine. Draw his two giant teeth.
Draw his body following the guidelines. Draw messy fur on his upper back and chest.
Draw his right legs. Draw three toes on each foot and put claws on each toe.
Draw his left legs. Put three toes on each of these as well.
Draw his tail.
Now erase an final guidelines that may still be visible. Redraw anything that might be a little messy.
Congratulations on finishing the How to Draw Diego From Ice Age lesson!
